Hall of Fame Management

 

There are to be two groups to manage the Hall of Fame program at Wheaton Warrenville South High School.

1. There shall be the “Hall of Fame Board of Directors”
1. This group shall consist of the original Hall of Fame committee. Replacement members shall be appointed by a consensus of that group.
2. This group shall appoint replacement members of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee.
3. This group shall also be responsible for contacting and securing the intent to participate by the members of the Hall of Fame Selection Committee.
4. This Board will continue to evaluate the process and system and make changes as they see fit.
5. This group shall be responsible for the organization of the actual Hall of Fame induction ceremony.
2. There shall be the “Hall of Fame Selection Committee”
1. This group shall consist of 7 members

• Current athletic director
• A current head coach
• A current assistant coach
• A current student-athlete (a current senior who will participate for his/her senior year only)
• An “athletic director’s appointment”
• Two community members that would fulfill one of the following criteria: a connection to WC, WW or WWS or a retired staff member form WC, WW or WWS

1. This group will evaluate applications for admittance into the Hall of Fame
2. There shall be open discussion of nominated candidates
3. They shall use an open vote and be required that 5 out of 7 votes be the standard for induction
4. Considered for induction shall be:

• Former student-athletes
• Former coaches
• Former administrators of the schools or district

1. There shall be a special honor bestowed upon a “Special Supporter of the Athletic Program” each year at the Hall of Fame induction program. The HoF selection committee shall select this person from nominations.

• The names of these people will be recorded on a perpetual style plaque
• A name for this award shall be determined by the Board of Directors at a later date

1. The selection committee will select an IHSA state championship team to honor during the ceremony

• There shall be a display created to honor all individual and team state championships
